strategic plan
It is with great pleasure that the Harvin Clarendon County Library announces its 2014-2017 Strategic Plan. We are very excited about this road map as we strive to accomplish our mission of promoting life-long learning, providing information resources, and enhancing the quality of life for all Clarendon County citizens.
We invite Clarendon County Council and all of our fellow citizens to review and provide comments about the 2014-2017 Strategic Plan. The 2014-2017 Strategic Plan includes: an updated mission statement; specific goals on updating, improving and expanding our facilities; plans for continuing to measure effectiveness of our programs; plans for strengthening the internal governance of the board of trustees; and ways to increase community awareness of the resources and programs available through the library to our citizens.
The Board of trustees would also like to highlight a few of our recent programs:
-
Summer reading club participation in 2014 was increased 150% from 2013. While primary school age readers are the majority of participants, we had strong teen reader participation for the third year.
-
The library offered 12 summer programs for kids with 633 children attending, over 50 children per event! We also offered 1 program for teens and 2 programs for adults.
-
Over 6,000 visited the library this summer. June and July are traditionally our highest volume months of the year.
-
Total June and July circulation was up 10% over last year with eBooks accounting for the greatest increase.
-
In July the library began a partnership with WorkSC, allowing a WorkSC advocate to assist citizens with job applications, resume building, and other job seeking skills. A computer and the advocate are available at the library each Thursday from 9:30a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In the month of July, 127 people utilized this partnership.
There are many exciting programs and resources available at The Harvin Clarendon County Library! The Board of Trustees looks forward to our partnership with Clarendon County Council, Friends of the Library, and our fellow citizens to achieve our 2014-2017 Strategic Plan as we continue enhance lifelong learning in Clarendon County. We encourage you to visit our Library to see what you can learn!
